Why Happy Employees are 12% More Productive : New research suggests we work more effectively, creatively, and collaboratively when we’re happy at work.
Conventional wisdom holds that if only we pay workers enough, they’ll be productive. There may be more to it, though. Recent research hints there’s a link between employees’ happiness and their productivity at work. At NWCC we have taken a note of it and we are already seeing the payoff.
A recent study by economists at the University of Warwick found that happiness led to a 12% spike in productivity, while unhappy workers proved 10% less productive. As the research team put it, “We find that human happiness has large and positive causal effects on productivity. Positive emotions appear to invigorate human beings.”
Smile week celebrations at NWCC kicked off today at our head office in Gurgaon and we saw every one smiling and greeting every one as they entered office. The Office this morning is full of happiness and every one in office looked cheerful and happy. The HR department organized a video conference call with all the 28 branches and introduced ‘Project Smile Week’ and briefed them all the activities to be undertaken during this week.
We expect some great results to come out of this initiative and will see happier employees at the end of this initiative.
